The annual Epiphany celebrations are held on 06 January in various towns and cities around Cyprus.

A church mass dedicated to Epiphany is held in the morning in each major church of the town or city.

A procession follows the end of the service, and in the case of the coastal towns and cities, the procession heads towards the coast.

The priest then blesses the water with a Holy Cross.

The Holy Cross is then hurled into the sea, followed by large groups of men jumping into the cold sea to retrieve the Holy Cross.

The man that manages to retrieve the Holy Cross from the sea, earns the blessing of the priest for the duration of the year.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place around 1000 at each location along the coast.

The location for the ceremonies around the island are:

Nicosia: Agios Dimitrios of Acropolis Church - Acropolis Park Lake

Limassol: Agia Napa Church - Old Port of Limassol

Larnaca: Agios Lazaros Church - Larnaca Marina

Paphos: Theoskepatsi Church - Paphos Harbour

Polis: Agios Andreas Church - Latsi Fishing Marina

Agia Napa: Agia Napa Church - Agia Napa Harbour
