1. French President: Paris could be more engaged in Cyprus efforts

French President, Emmanuel Macron, expressed on Monday his country’s willingness to support any future effort for a Cyprus solution, stressing that France could be more engaged in the efforts if asked to do so. Speaking to the press after a meeting he held with President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades in Paris, Macron referred to their excellent bilateral relations as well as to their economic cooperation, emphasizing on the activities of the French company TOTAL in Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone, saying that Paris fully supports its presence in Cyprus.

2. House President coordinates effort to set up a group of Middle East small states

House President Demetris Syllouris has undertaken to coordinate an effort with a view to set up a group of small Middle East states, which will include the small countries of the Gulf and Cyprus. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Syllouris noted that this group will not discuss political issues of major importance, but other matters of cooperation regarding education, research, culture and other activities.

3. First Meeting of Cyprus, Greece and Israel Defence Ministers

Minister of Defence Christoforos Fokaides will participate in the first tripartite meeting of the Ministers of Defence of Cyprus, Greece and Israel that will take place in Athens. According to a press release by the Ministry, Fokaides, who departs on Tuesday for Athens, will discuss with his counterparts issues concerning the enhancement of their cooperation in the field of defence, as well as coordination for addressing common threats and challenges, such as terrorism, maritime and energy safety.

4. Minister Nikos Kougialis intervened during the works of the 28 Ministers Council in Brussels

Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment Nikos Kougialis talked on Monday on the rational use of pesticides, soil quality management and international trade in relation to protected designation of origin products and the interests of the small Member States, during the works of the Council of Ministers for Agriculture and Fisheries, in Brussels.

5. Cypriot parliamentarians take part in the CPA conference in Dhaka

Female parliamentarians have a duty to work to promote measures that will lead to consolidation of sustainable development, said member of Parliament Eleni Mavrou, addressing the 63rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mavrou is heading a delegation which also includes members of Parliament Marios Mavrides and Christos Orphanides.

6. Industrial Producer Prices drop in Cyprus by -1.4% in September 2017

In September 2017, compared with August 2017, industrial producer prices rose by 0.6% in both the euro area (EA19) and the EU28, but decreased in Cyprus by -1.4%, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In August 2017, prices increased by 0.3% in the euro area, by 0.4% in the EU28, but remained stable in Cyprus (0.0%). In September 2017, compared with September 2016, industrial producer prices rose by 2.9% in the euro area, by 3.3% in the EU28 and by 1.2% in Cyprus.CNA
