1. Cyprus President to meet Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Monday

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades will hold talks in Paris on Monday afternoon with French President Emmanuel Macron. The meeting will examine the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, bilateral relations with emphasis on energy and defence matters, Euro - Turkish relations and regional issues. The two leaders will then make statements to the press.

2. TOTAL will soon begin operations in block 6 of Cyprus` Exclusive Economic Zone

French energy giant TOTAL will soon begin operating in block 6 of Cyprus` Exclusive Economic Zone, it was announced on Sunday evening after a meeting President Nicos Anastasiades had with the company`s Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanne and Vice President of the Middle East and North Africa division Elias Kassis.

3. The government repays part of loan to Central Bank of Cyprus, reducing public debt below 100%

The Finance Ministry`s Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) announced that it has repaid part of its debt to the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) in a move that will lower the public debt-to-GDP ratio below 100% for the first time since 2013. “This early repayment amounts to €614.9 mil plus €6.3 mil accrued interest and represents a projected reduction of the public debt to GDP ratio of 3.2 percentage points,” the PDMO said in a press release.

Climate pledges made by countries “seem to be non-satisfactory” and might be reviewed in case the United States withdraw from the Paris Agreement, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Nicos Kouyialis has said.

5. Puidgemont will have a fair trial in Spain, Spanish Ambassador in Nicosia tells CNA in an interview

Carles Puigdemont will have a fair trial in Spain, says the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Cyprus, Angel Lossada. He also stresses that his country respects the rule of law and expects Belgium to serve the European arrest warrant against the ousted Catalan leader. “We expect that Puidgdemont will be extradited” Lossada says in an interview with the Cyprus News Agency, taken before Puigdemont turned himself in to the Belgian authorities on Sunday.

6. Fully recycled paper for the first time in public sector

The Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus has entered a framework agreement for the purchase, for the first time, of 100% recycled paper, and has achieved 3% savings compared to the price obtained in previous competitions for recycled paper.
