1. UNSG available when the parties in Cyprus will come to him, his Spokesperson says

The United Nations Secretary General remains available when the parties in Cyprus will come to him, his Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric has told the press in New York. Asked about the Cyprus talks during the Daily Press Briefing on Monday, following the separate meetings the SG had with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci in New York, Dujarric said that he had nothing new to announce.  

2. Foreign Ministry advises Cypriot citizens on imminent volcano eruption in Bali

Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Cypriot citizens on imminent eruption of volcano Agung, in northeastern Bali. In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Ministry advises Cypriot citizens who are in Indonesia and especially in Bali, or intend to travel to the region, to be particularly careful, stay away from the designated zone and follow the instructions of the local authorities.

3. Cyprus and Lebanon review relations

The historic ties between Cyprus and Lebanon were underlined during a meeting of House of Representatives President Demetris Syllouris and outgoing Ambassador of Lebanon in Nicosia Dr. Youssef Sadaka. An official statement said the two met on the occasion of Sadaka’s departure and also referred to the development of relations in the economic field in the recent years.

4. CTO projects new record with 3.6 million tourist arrivals in 2017

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) said on Tuesday that tourist arrivals are projected to exceed 3.6 million, breaking a new all-time record, following a record-breaking 2016 tourist season. According to the Cyprus Statistical Service tourist arrivals for the period of January – August reached 2.51 million, marking a new record for the certain period.

5. The Queen’s Baton Relay for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games arrives in Cyprus

The  Queen’s Baton Relay for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) the largest sporting event that will take place in Australia in the last decade, arrived in Cyprus on Monday evening, the last stop in its European tour.CNA
