1. Increased security measures in place but no indication for threats against Cyprus, Justice Minister says

The government is taking increased security measures in particular with regard to air traffic, following instructions from the European Union, to avert any possible threats, Justice and Public Order Minister Ionas Nicolaou has said, pointing out however that there are no indications that Cyprus is faced with any threat.

2. Juncker’s State of the Union address to open debate on the future of Europe on Wednesday

European Commission President Jean Jean-Claude Juncker will deliver his annual State of the Union address before the Plenary of the European Parliament on Wednesday, during which MEPs will take stock of the Commission’s achievements midway through its mandate, but most of all they will discuss ways forward to a strong EU committed to protecting its citizens and deliver economic growth and jobs.

3. Joint Cyprus - Greece search and rescue exercise

A Search and Rescue Exercise, under the code name "SALAMIS-6/17", was conducted successfully on Sunday off Cyprus` shores, according to the Ministry of Defence. The exercise took place within the Republic`s Search and Rescue area of responsibility, with the participation of National Guard General Staff helicopters and the Hellenic Navy vessel SIMITZOPOULOS.

The Ministry of Agriculture will continue to work to register all traditional agrifood products as geographical indications because it truly believes that this will pave the way for real growth, with the support of new SMEs, the creation of prospects for employment, and the improvement of conditions in rural areas, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Nicos Kouyialis has said.
