1. We are in a period of reflection on Cyprus, UNSG`s spokesperson says

This is a period of reflection, and it’s now up to the parties in Cyprus to come back to the UN Secretary General, and then decisions will be made on the next step and the way forward, the UN Secretary General`s spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric has said.

2. ExxonMobil to carry out two drillings in block 10 in the second half of 2018

US Energy giant ExxonMobil announced on Wednesday it will carry out two exploratory drillings in block 10 of Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the second half of 2018. ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum (QP) acquired an exploration concession for block 10 as part of the third licensing round in April 2017.

3. EP President to visit Cyprus by the end of the year at the invitation of House President

President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani will be visiting Cyprus by the end of the year at the invitation of the President of the House of Representatives Dimitris Syllouris, who concluded on Wednesday his three day working visit to Brussels.

4. Defence Minister to attend informal EU meetings in Tallinn

Defence Minister Christroforos Fokaides departs on Wednesday for Tallinn, Estonia, in order to take part in the informal meeting of Defence Ministers. The main topic concerns the deepening of defence cooperation in Europe.

5. AKEL and RTP leaders call for the continuation of settlement efforts

The leaders of AKEL and Republican Turkish Party (RTP) expressed on Wednesday their common will for the continuation of efforts towards a Cyprus settlement, in the framework set by the UN.

6. Building permits up by 10% last June and during the first semester of 2017

There was a 10% increase in the number of building permits authorized by the municipal authorities and the district administration offices, both in June 2017 and during the first semester of 2017.

7. Cyprus and UEFA sign anti-doping agreement

The Cyprus Anti-Doping Authority and UEFA signed an agreement in Nicosia, at the Cyprus Football Association (CFA), on doping-related issues and tests for footballers.CNA
