1. Turkish-occupied Morphou Municipality protests religious prohibition to UN and EU

The Turkish-occupied Municipality of Morphou is sending on Thursday a letter to the United Nations and the European Union, to protest a decision by the Turkish Cypriot side not to allow a religious service at the church of Ayios Mamas. The Municipality will also seek to meet with the President of Cyprus to discuss the matter.

2. Cyprus government welcomes launch of CNA’s new service in Arabic

The Cyprus government has welcomed the launch of Cyprus News Agency’s service in Arabic, that starts today in an effort to build bridges with the Arabic-speaking countries in the region. Speaking to CNA, Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides said that “we welcome this particular development and we are optimistic that it will contribute to further enhancing the excellent relations of the Republic of Cyprus with the Arab world”.

3. Newly launched Arabic service strengthens the voice of Cyprus, says CNA Board Chairman

The new website of the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) in Arabic is here and aims to strengthen the voice of Cyprus, said CNA Board Chairman Larkos Larkou. Speaking on the occasion of the new service in Arabic, launched on September 1, which is added to the existing services in Greek, Turkish and English, Larkou noted that the Cyprus News Agency promotes networking with the Arab world.

4. Turnover Value Index of transport and storage increases significantly in H1

The Turnover Value Index of transport and storage presented an increase of 5.5% in the first half of the year, compared to the corresponding period of 2016, the Statistical Service of Cyprus said on Thursday.

5. Industrial Output Prices Index up in first seven months of 2017

The Industrial Output Prices Index showed an increase of 3.9% in the period January-July 2017, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the Statistical Service of Cyprus announced on Thursday.

6. Turnover value index in services increases in H1

The Turnover Value Index in the majority of activities in the services sector saw an increase during the first half of the year, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

7. Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio” opens in Pafos tonight

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio” (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), an opera composed to satisfy the wish of Austrian Emperor Joseph II, will be on stage at the Pafos Medieval Castle tonight, in the framework of the 19th Pafos Aphrodite Festival and incorporated in the European Cultural Capital Pafos 2017.
