1. Justice Minister stresses President’s readiness to continue Cyprus talks

The President’s readiness to continue the dialogue within the parameters of the UN Secretary-General gives us the opportunity to hold Turkey responsible for the solution of the Cyprus issue without any future review clauses, troops and guardians, Minister of Justice and Public Order Ionas Nicolaou said on Sunday. He called for unity aiming at creating the conditions for the vindication of our people suffering from the Turkish occupation and united and determined give the new generation the opportunity to create its future in a modern European state equal among the rest”.

2. Consensus needed to continue the struggle for reunification, says Minister

Finance Minister Harris Georgiades has said that we need to carry on the struggle for the reunification of our country with consensus and determination that will help us to face the challenges and difficulties. Speaking on Sunday at a memorial service, Finance Minister said that there needs to be unity in order to give the struggle for our survival and turn our country in a place of prosperity and progress. Georgiades said that we have a historical debt and we must assess the situation and the choices before us in order to safeguard the interests of the Greek Cypriots.

3. Cyprus President enjoys the Perseid Meteor Shower in Troodos mountains

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades visited the Troodos mountains on Saturday night where he enjoyed the Perseid Meteor Shower. He was joined by his spouse Andri, his children and his grandchildren. In brief statements he recalled that the Cabinet recently decided to contribute to the foundation of a school where students could study the science of stars. He said that the school will be established in cooperation and the financial assistance of the Ministry of Education.

4. CNA begins Arabic news service in September

The Cyprus News Agency announces that it will offer an Arabic-language news service from September 2017. The Arabic department has been manned and technical procedures have been completed and soon the Arabic Website will be uploaded. Arabic will be the fourth language offered by CNA, which also transmits news in Greek, English and Turkish.CNA
