1. Drilling operations will not be postponed, Anastasiades says

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades said on Saturday evening that drilling operations in Cyprus` Exclusive Economic Zone will not be postponed and that no pressure is exerted to this end. The President also said earlier on Saturday that he submitted “concrete and comprehensive proposals” in Switzerland, on the basis of the ideas put forward by the Secretary-General. Anastasiades will inform on Monday the members of the National Council and subsequently the Cypriot people over what happened in Crans-Montana.

2. Turkey torpedoed the Conference on Cyprus, Greek Foreign Ministry says

Just as Turkey abandoned the first Conference on Cyprus, in Geneva, it torpedoed the second one, the Greek Foreign Ministry said in a press release issued on Saturday, noting that Turkey`s stance dashed any hopes that there would be a change in its stance. The Greek Foreign Ministry said that Turkey drove the Crans-Montana conference to an impasse. "A very characteristic feature of its stance was the revelations Turkey made during the dinner on 6 July, when the UN Secretary-General expressed his intention of setting down in writing the points of convergence that had been achieved," it noted.

3. UNSG`s Special Adviser remains in post, UN spokesperson in Cyprus tells CNA

The UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide remains in post and is focusing on preparing his briefing to the UN Security Council, UN spokesperson in Cyprus Aleem Siddique has told CNA. He was invited to comment on a statement Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci made on Friday, that Eide will probably leave his post and that a new adviser will probably not be appointed.

4. Turkish positions reveal Ankara’s real intentions vis-à-vis Cyprus, House President says

Turkey’s expansionist attitude and maximalist positions reveal its real intentions vis-à-vis a Cyprus solution, House President Demetris Syllouris said on Sunday, adding that Ankara aims at strategically and politically controlling all of Cyprus. Addressing a memorial service in the village of Lagoudera, in Nicosia District, Syllouris said, according to an announcement distributed by PIO, that the insistence of the Turkish side on excessive demands limits the scope of action for the Greek Cypriot side.CNA
