Information on the allocated dog beaches in Cyprus

Owning a dog in Cyprus has become very popular, you see more and more people taking their dogs for a walk. This is good to see, also many people are cleaning up after their dog.

The normal places to take a dog for a walk iin cities is along the pavement and certain parks. In the mountains and rural areas, there are many more open spaces such as fields for the dogs to roam in.

The coast is also very tempting, but taking dogs on the beach in Cyprus is illegal. There is a law in Cyprus that prohibits dogs on the beaches due to hygiene and safety reasons.

Take your dog on a beach in Cyprus means you may be reported to the local municipality. The municipality will send an inspector and you will be fined.

Cyprus municipalities have however allocated special beaches where you may legally take your dogs. The allocated beaches are listed below.

1. Louma Beach in Ayia Napa

2. Steratzia in Kato Pyrgos, province of Nicosia

3. Spyros Beach south of Larnaka airport

4. Southwest of Pafos airport, near  the river Ezousa delta

5. Pitili Beach east of the Platania River delta (Neo Chorio)

6. Karavopetra & Monagroulli  villages beach areas in Limassol

7. Prolimnos & Pissouri villages beach areas
