1. Trilateral Summit among Cyprus, Greece and Israel takes place in Salonica on Thursday

The Cyprus problem, the Middle East issue and energy matters will be among the main topics of discussion during the Trilateral Summit among Greece, Cyprus and Israel that will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, on Thursday. In the framework of the Summit, the three countries` leaders, Nicos Anastasiades, Alexis Tsipras and Benjamin Netanyahu, will sign the Thessaloniki Joint Declaration.

2. President Anastasiades invites businesspeople in Lebanon to invest in Cyprus

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, speaking at the Cyprus-Lebanon Business Forum, in Beirut, invited businesspeople in Lebanon to explore ways to invest in Cyprus and take advantage of the wealth of opportunities available in all sectors of the economy. The President also met with Supreme Patriarch of Cilicia Aram.

3. House President wraps up three-day official visit to Sweden

President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris wraps up today his three-day official visit to Sweden at the invitation of the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, Urban Ahlin. On Wednesday, he laid a wreath on Wednesday in Stockholm at the National Veterans’ Monument during a memorial ceremony for UNFICYP.

4. Bilateral ties and regional developments the focus of FM Kasoulides` meeting with Lebanese counterpart

Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides met on Tuesday with his Lebanese counterpart Gebran Bassil, in the framework of President Anastasiades` visit to Beirut.

5. National Council convenes on Monday, UN Spokesman points to Geneva

The National Council will convene on Monday morning to be briefed by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades ahead of the Conference on Cyprus which will reconvene in Geneva on June 28. Meanwhile, Stephane Dujarric, the Spokesperson of the UN Secretary General pointed to the Geneva Conference on Cyprus, due on June 28, when asked about media reports on possible troop reductions on Cyprus.

Cyprus and Greece decided on Wednesday to set up a technocratic group to tackle the consequences of climate change.

7. Roadworks in Lefka crossing gain pace, project engineer tells CNA

Works for the construction of a road leading to the crossing point in Lefka, in the western part of Cyprus, are gaining pace in an effort to complete the project before its deadline, in mid-December.

8. Sweden marks 90th anniversary of Swedish Archaeological Mission in Cyprus

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Swedish Archaeological Mission in Cyprus a ceremony took place on Wednesday evening at the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm, in the presence of the President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris who concludes today a three day official visit to Sweden.

9. Cyprus involved in European programme aiming to mitigate dust-related health hazards

Eight institutions from Cyprus, Greece and Israel will implement a new European programme, aiming to mitigate health hazards from desert dust storms. These are the countries in the Mediterranean with the greatest exposure in dust.

10. Larnaka Airport "Most Accessible Airport for People with Disabilities" in Europe, ACI announced

For the first time in the history of the Cypriot airports, Larnaka International Airport won the first place among 500 other European airports from 45 states, at the ACI Awards and in the category of "Most Accessible Airport for People with Disabilities", according to a press release issued by Hermes Airports Ltd which is the operator of the two International Airports of the Republic of Cyprus.

11. Employment rises in Cyprus, job vacancies increase

The number of persons employed increased in Cyprus by +0.7% in the first quarter of 2017 compared with the previous quarter, according to national accounts estimates published by Eurostat. According to the Statistical Service of Cyprus, employment in the Broad Public Sector in the 1st quarter of 2017 increased by 2.569 persons (4,04%) compared with the same quarter of 2016.  Furthermore, the number of job vacancies for the 1st quarter of 2017 increased by 837 (27,42%) compared to the same quarter of the previous year when it was 3.053.

12. Industrial production increases in Cyprus by 1.4 in monthly and 9.2 in annual basis

In April 2017 compared with March 2017, seasonally adjusted industrial production rose by 0.5% in the euro area (EA19) and by 0.2% in the EU28, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

13. Cyprus Rally promises even more thrills

The Cyprus Rally, fourth round of the 2017 ERC, promises even more thrills as the best drivers from Europe, the Middle-East are gearing up to race against the clock below the glorious summer sun. The Cyprus Rally will take place on the weekend between the 16th and 18th of June.CNA
