1. President:We expect discussions on security and guarantees to be structured, focused and result-oriented

The Greek Cypriot side expects that discussions on the chapter of security and guarantees, through a common document to be agreed by all parties involved in the UN-facilitated peace talks, will be structured, focused and result-oriented, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades said on Monday.

2. President Anastasiades and Maronite Patriarch of Antioch refer to brotherly ties between Cyprus and Lebanon

President Nicos Anastasiades and the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and Head of the Maronite Church Bechara Boutros al -Rahi referred to the brotherly ties between Cyprus and Lebanon during a meeting they had on Monday evening, during the President’s visit to the neighbouring country.

The Director General of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) Michalis Antoniou was elected an alternate member of the International Labour Office Board of Directors for the period 2017 - 2020.

6. Cyprus faced with penalty by EC for failure to incorporate EU law on out-of-court settlements

Cyprus might be facing a penalty of 7.000 euro per day by the European Commission because it has failed so far to incorporate into national law an EU directive on out of court settlements, the Legal Office of the Republic informed the House Finance Committee on Monday.

7. UNHCR Cyprus Office marks World`s Refugee Day

The UNHCR Country Office in Cyprus and partners will be marking this year’s World Refugee Day with a series of dedicated events and activities which kicked off today and will continue through to Friday 23 June in Nicosia and Larnaca.

The House Price Index marked a quarterly increase in the fourth quarter of 2016, for the second consecutive quarter, said the Central Bank, while annual house prices recorded a small decrease.CNA
