1. EBRD President describes Annual Meeting in Cyprus as "historic"

This year`s Annual Meeting in Cyprus can be described as historic, European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) President Sir Suma Chakrabarti said on Wednesday speaking at the opening session of the Board of Governors at the Bank’s Annual Meeting in Cyprus. On Tuesday, after being received by President Nicos Anastasiades, Chakrabarti said the Annual EBRD Meeting in Nicosia is a great opportunity to showcase the wonderful economic recovery which is taking place in Cyprus and the future prospects. Furthermore, Pierre Gramegna, the EBRD Chair of the Board of Directors, said on Wednesday that the Bank`s impact on Cyprus is quite visible. Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Harris Georgiades held a number of meetings on the sidelines of the EBRD conference.

2. President says despite progress, problems still remain at the Cyprus peace talks

Despite the progress achieved, there are still problems at the Cyprus talks, President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades stressed on Tuesday, addressing the 54th conference of the public servants` union PASYDY, noting that there should be no unjust solution just for the sake of reaching a solution.

Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the UN, Ambassador Kornelios S. Korneliou, delivered to UNSG`s Chef de Cabinet, Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, President Nicos Anastasiades` letter to the UNSG.

4. Negotiators discuss about property issue

The negotiators of the two communities in Cyprus, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ozdil Nami, discussed during their meeting on Tuesday about the property issue, in the framework of the Cyprus talks, aiming at reaching a solution of the Cyprus problem.

5. May urges all sides in Cyprus talks to take “bold steps” in a telephone call with Erdogan

UK Prime Minister Theresa May had a telephone call with Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan on Tuesday evening to reiterate her government’s continuing commitment to the bilateral relationship and express her wish to deepen co-operation on a range of issues, a Downing Street spokesperson said.

6. Paris` position on Cyprus remains unchanged, diplomatic source assures after Macron`s election

The position of France on the Cyprus problem remains unchanged, as Paris continues to support the reunification of the island and the current UN-led process towards that end, a French diplomatic source said on Tuesday, following Emmanuel Macron`s election as the new President of the Republic of France.

7. Cyprus determined to proceed with its energy plans, assures Energy Minister

The Republic of Cyprus is determined to exercise its sovereign rights in its Exclusive Economic Zone and to proceed with its energy planning, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Yiorgos Lakkotrypis said on Tuesday.

8. State Department recognises Cyprus` right to develop its resources in its EEZ

The State Department recognises Cyprus` right to develop its resources in its Exclusive Economic Zone. Invited to comment on Turkish provocations in the Cypriot EEZ, a State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the “US policy on Cyprus’ EEZ is longstanding – We recognise the Republic of Cyprus’s right to develop its resources in its Exclusive Economic Zone.”

9. Cyprus-Oman reaffirm friendly bilateral relations

Cyprus House President Dimitris Syllouris and President and members of the Consultative Council of the Sultanate of Oman on Monday went onboard the ship  Al-Salam, at Limassol port, which was given as a gift to the Government of Cyprus by the Sultanate. The ship was remaned "Alasia".

10. Harmonized inflation at 2.1% in April, increase recorded in trade deficit and vehicle registration

Harmonized inflation in Cyprus stood at 2.1% in April 2017, compared to April 2016, while compared to March of 2017 increased by 1,0%. Trade deficit in Cyprus between January / February 2017 was €802,8mn compared to €298,0mn in the corresponding period of 2016. An increase was recorded in the total registrations of motor vehicles in January - April 2017 compared to the corresponding period last year.

11. Cyprus secures a place in Eurovision final

Cyprus secured last night a place in the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest Final that will take place on Saturday in Kiev.
