1. Cyprus condemns attacks against Coptic churches in Egypt

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the terrorist attacks against the Coptic churches of St George and of St Mark, in the Egyptian cities of Tanta and Alexandria respectively, which were perpetrated on the 9th of April 2017.

2. President calls for realistic proposals ahead of resumption of Cyprus talks

President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades expressed hope on Saturday that as the Cyprus talks are set to restart next week, everyone will realise that without realistic proposals that will address the concerns of both the Greek Cypriots and the Turkish Cypriots, it will not be possible to reach a solution of the Cyprus problem.

3. President to have telephone conversation with Eide on Monday afternoon

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades will have a telephone conversation on Monday afternoon with UN Secretary General`s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide, Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides told CNA this evening. The conversation will take place after a meeting Eide is due to have with the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Mustafa Akinci, he added.

4. Companies need to take advantage of innovative tools to expand, says House President

Innovation and Technology can provide the essential tools to companies based on the island, to conduct business beyond tight geographical boundaries and expand relations with customers around the world, President of the House of Representatives, Demetris Syllouris, told the CIM Summit 2017, on Saturday.

5. Presidential Commissioner calls on Turkey to show goodwill on missing persons issue

Presidential Commissioner Photis Photiou called on Turkey to show goodwill as regards the missing persons issue in Cyprus and assume its responsibilities. Photiou was speaking at the funeral of the remains of a man, found in October 2014 during excavations carried out by the teams of the Committee on Missing Persons, according to a press release of the Press and Information Office.

6. Cyprus President takes part in Summit of southern EU member states

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades takes part on Monday at a summit between the seven southern EU member states, in Madrid, which will focus among others on Brexit and the future of Europe.

7. House President begins official visit to Kuwait

President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris has begun an official visit to Kuwait, heading a parliamentary delegation, at the invitation of the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Marzouq A. Al-Ghanim.

8. CMP to lend expertise to Red Cross and Argentinian Forensic Anthropology Team

The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Argentinian Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF), lending support and expertise to their efforts to ease the suffering of families of missing persons.CNA
