1. Missing persons aspect has special position in Cyprus talks, says President Anastasiades

The subject matter of the missing persons will hold a special position in the context of the negotiations to reach a solution of the Cyprus problem, President Anastasiades said on Monday evening, expressing the hope at the same time that they will resume soon. Furthermore, receiving the credentials of the Ambassador of Chile to the Republic of Cyprus, stationed in Athens, Maria Pia Busta Diaz, President Anastasiades said there is no change in the long-standing policy of the Greek Cypriot side on reaching a settlement of the Cyprus problem.

2. Leaders reconfirmed commitment to find solution, says UN official

UN Secretary General`s Spokesman Stéphane Dujarric referred on Monday to a dinner Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci had on Sunday evening, noting that they reconfirmed their joint commitment to finding a solution in the best interest of all Cypriots, taking into account the concerns of both communities.

3. Cyprus, Greece, Israel and Italy agree to support EastMed Pipeline Project

Cyprus, Greece, Israel and Italy agreed Monday to reinforce their cooperation, forming a quadri-lateral working group with the aim to monitor and support the development of the EastMed Pipeline Project and to identify terms of a necessary intergovernmental agreement to expedite project realization.

4. Cyprus and Israel hold political consultations in Nicosia

The Cyprus problem, cooperation in the energy sector, the trilateral cooperation between Cyprus, Israel and Greece as well as other current regional developments were among the issues discussed during the political consultations held, on Monday, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between the ministry`s Permanent Secretary Alexandros Zinon and his Israeli counterpart Yuval Rotem, a Ministry press release says.

5. Cyprus and France update their Defence Cooperation Agreement

Cyprus and France are updating their Defence Cooperation Agreement, during an official visit to Paris. Defence Minister Christoforos Fokaides is paying an official visit to Paris, during which he will sign an updated version of the 2007 Defence Cooperation Agreement.

6. FM: Cyprus places significant weight to strengthening the rule of law in Europe

The Republic of Cyprus places significant weight to strengthening the rule of law in Europe, Foreign Ministry Ioannis Kasoulides stressed in his address at the opening session of the 5th Intercultural workshop on Democracy entitled "Interaction Between Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Jurisdictions and Ordinary Courts" organized on April 3 and 4 in Nicosia by the Venice Commission, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, in the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

7. Foreign Ministry condemns attack in St. Petersburg, conveys condolences

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus condemned on Tuesday the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro and conveyed Cyprus` sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the government and the people of Russia. Earlier, the Ministry said that on the basis of currently available information, it appears that no Cypriot citizens were harmed.

8. The Post Programme Surveillance of Cyprus, will be the last item in Friday`s Eurogroup Agenda

The post-programme surveillance report on Cyprus will be the last item in the agenda of the informal Eurogroup in Malta on Friday, as announced by the Council.

9. Kouyialis calls for EU-wide crisis mechanism to secure farmers income and Agriculture viability

Cypriot Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nikolaos Kouyialis called for the creation of an EU-wide crisis mechanism that will support the income of farmers in every corner of Europe in case of any kind of crisis in the sector and at the same time secure the viability of the industry. Minister Kouyialis made this call arriving at the EU 28 Agriculture Council of Ministers in Luxemburg, in the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy reform.

10. Unemployment down, industrial producer prices and tourism revenue up

Seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Cyprus was 12.9% in February 2017, down from 13.1% in January 2017 and from 13.4% in February 2016. This means that 56 000 individuals were unemployed, of whom 11.7% male and 14.2% female. Furthermore, industrial producer prices increased in Cyprus by 0.3% in February 2017 in monthly basis and by 1.6% in annual basis, according to Eurostat. Also, tourism revenue recorded a significant annual increase this January of 21.6% compared to January 2016, data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service show.CNA
