1. President will not allow anyone to question sincere intentions of Greek Cypriot side for solution
President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades has stressed that he will not allow anyone to question the sincere intentions of the Greek Cypriot side for a solution of the Cyprus issue. The President issued a written statement, in response to remarks by Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.
2. Negotiators` Tuesday meeting cancelled
The meeting scheduled for Tuesday between the negotiators of the two sides in Cyprus, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ozdil Nami, has been cancelled. CNA sources said that the cancellation was requested by the Turkish Cypriot side.
3. Theresa Villiers MP says it’s time to remove Cyprus guarantees
The ruling Conservative Party MP Theresa Villiers has stated that the security guarantees regime in Cyprus must be removed, expressing “cautious optimism” over the prospects of a settlement to the Cyprus issue. The north London MP was part of delegation from the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cyprus that undertook a visit to Nicosia for a series of meetings from 9th to 12th February.
4. House prices increase marginally in Q3 2016
The house price index increased marginally in the third quarter of 2016, for the first time since the end of 2009, the Central Bank of Cyprus said on Monday. Prices for apartments and houses recorded a marginal quarterly increase of 0.1%, CBC said, noting that this small increase suggests that the prices continue to stabilise.
5. Cyprus ranks 2nd in “Cyprus Grand Prix 2017” shooting event
Cypriot athletes secured five medals, two gold, two silver and a bronze, at the “Cyprus Grand Prix 2017” shooting event and Cyprus was ranked 2nd with Finland managing to conquer first place with 12 medals, four gold, three silver and five bronze and United Arab Emirates third place with two gold medals.CNA
