1. Eide to hold meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday in Ankara

UN Secretary General`s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide will hold meetings with Turkish officials, in Ankara, on Tuesday and Wednesday, UN spokesman in Cyprus Aleem Siddique has told CNA. Siddique noted that Eide will arrive in Turkey on Monday evening and will hold meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday with officials at the Turkish Foreign Ministry. He also said that Eide may also meet with other officials, adding that his meetings have not yet been confirmed.

2. Negotiators of the two sides to meet on Tuesday

The negotiators of the two sides in Cyprus, engaged in peace talks, are meeting on Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s meeting between the leaders of the island’s two communities. Tuesday’s meeting is taking place following a decision by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci to ask the United Nations to prepare, in consultation with the guarantor powers, for the continuation of the Conference on Cyprus at political level in early March.

3. Government signs agreement with civil servants` trade union

Minister of Finance Harris Georgiades and General Secretary of the Pancyprian Public Servants` Trade Union (PASY-DY), Glafkos Hadjipetrou signed on Monday the framework agreement for the years 2017-2018.

4. Fire drill takes place at Larnaka airport

A large scale four-day fire and rescue drill began on Monday at Larnaka International Airport. The exercise will last until Thursday. Larnaka District Officer at the Fire Department Stelios Stylianou told the press that the drill takes place in order to assess the preparedness of the firemen who are based at the airport and the firemen who serve in the other cities.

5. Match-day 22 of Cyprus football League concludes on Monday

Match-day 22 of the Cyprus football League concludes on Monday with a match between Karmiotissa and Ethnikos Ahnas, set to kick off at 1900 local time (17.00 GMT). During the weekend matches, APOEL, managed to stay in the lead despite a draw of 1 – 1 against AEK. The two teams got one point each and the difference between them remains the same (5 points). The results of match day 22 so far: Anorthosis – Anagennisi Derynias 3 – 0, Omonia – Aris 4-2, AEL – AEZ 3-0, Apollon - Doxa 3-1 and Nea Salamina – Ermis 0 – 0.
