Lefkara Village is located in the Larnaca District of Cyprus and the village lies close to Kato Drys, Vavla, Vavatsinia and Skarinou villages.

The village is divided into two parts, Pano Lefkara, which means Higher Lefkara and Kato Lefkara, which means Lower Lefkara.

Lefkara Village is built at a height of 650 metres above sea level.

The village acquired it's name, according to one of the many legends, from the colour of the limestone rock that was in plentiful supply in the mountains around the village. The Greek word Lefka means white and the Greek word Ora means mountains. Hence the name Lefkara Village.

Lefkara Village is famous for it's traditional hand made lace and it's local silver handcrafted jewellery.

Lefkara lace was highly acclaimed around the world and it was much sought after. In the period between 1920-1930, Lefkara lace was considered as one of the most unique and original examples of lace to be found in the world. In 2009, Lefkara lace received a listing with UNESCO as an example of the historical handicrafts unique to Cyprus.
