Information on Kolossi Village in Cyprus

Kolossi Village is located in the Limassol District of Cyprus and part of the village lies in the British Sovereign Areas Bases of Akrotiri and Dhekelia.

The nearest towns are Erimi and Ypsonas, with the city of Limassol a short distance away.

Kolossi Castle is the most important monument in the village and is to be found on the outskirts of the village. Kolossi Castle was built in 1210 by the Order Of Saint John of Jerusalem.

Kolossi village is very well known for it's Commandaria wine and has a long history in Cyprus. Richard The Lionheart praised the wine at the festival held in his honour, when he married Berengaria of Navarre, as the "wine of kings and king of wines".
