Information on the Xyliatos Dam in Cyprus

The Xyliatos Dam falls under the authority of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources - Department Of Water Development

Pitsilia Integrated Rural Development Project

Xyliatos Dam is a rockfill dam and the construction of the dam began in 1980 and was completed in 1982.

The operation and maintenance of Xyliatos dam are with the Water Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The storage of the dam was increased in February 1998 from 1,222,000 MCM to 1,430,000MCM and is built to a height of 42 metres.

The villages that the dam supplies water to are Xyliatos, Ayia Marina, Chandria, Kyperounda, Lagoudhera, Polystipos, Livadhia and Sarandi.

The water supply helps the villages with growing their agricultural products such as vegetables, olives, citrus fruits and almonds.
