Message from the organizing committee:

Dear friends, welcome!

Limassol Marathon GSO is the official marathon of our Cyprus, accredited by the international federations of AIMS and IAAF. We are particularly proud of the fact that our Marathon is a lot more than an athletic event of international standards and mass participation. It is primarily an indication of the power of the human will and soul. It is a source of values, social awareness and solidarity. It is a celebration of joy and a celebration of friendship.

Our events include a Marathon, Half Marathon, Health Race, Corporate Race, Student Race and a Charity Run / Walk. The traffic free straight, fast and flat route is ideal for all runners and participants to achieve a personal best and our slogan ‘Run along the Waves reflects the true picture.

Limassol is the second largest city of Cyprus and the capital of vitality and hospitality. Molos area on the sea front is the start and finish point, a beautiful spot which smiles back to the smile offered by the sea! Imagine the fantastic route, the great beaches, the breathtaking trails combined with the well known hospitality of our people and the mild weather.

Let us meet on the 18th March 2012. We look forward to welcome you!

Marathon - Description Of The Course

 Participation fee €50  Microchip Timing

The course of the Limassol International Marathon GSO is of a low degree of difficulty. It is essentially a flat race with its unique characteristic being the long straight lines, and the greatest part of the marathon taking place along the coastal road of greater Limassol.

The Start of the Race is on the seafront of the Limassol city, Molos area (the promenade).

The athletes head east towards ancient Amathus, a coastal route via the municipalities of Limassol, Agios Athanasios and Germasogia. The route is almost entirely straight with no bends.

At the 8th km athletes will enter the area of Agios Tychonas which begins with a downhill run and reaches an altitude of 10 meters at km-9, where they meet a few inclines & a down-hill area until Km-10.

It follows one big straight line with the altitude reaching 18 meters up to the point of inversion 180 degrees in the Km-12 where they find the municipality of Saint Tihonas, changing direction from easterly to westerly taking the route of return on the other side of the coastal street, beginning with a light incline directing to the centre of Lemesos with plenty of big straight lines.

Following the direction to the centre, athletes will pass the starting point on 28th October Avenue heading towards the historical centre of Lemesos, almost at sea level, without any altitude differences.

In Km-25 we will take the direction towards the new harbour and will arrive there in the Km-30 passing from Christodoulou Hadjipavlou Street, Spiros Araouzou Street, Constitution, Xhelal Bajar, and Franklin Roosevelt Avenue (which is the palm tree lined road).

Approximately near the New Harbour we will then take the direction towards the historical centre again, and guided to the finish line.
