Ayia Napa Harbour

Ayia Napa, or as it is sometimes referred to Agia Napa, is situated on the south eastern coast of Cyprus in the Famagusta province. The area is famous for it's red soil and forms part of the area locally known as "Kokkinachoria" , which translates to "the red villages".

It has developed from a small fishing village, into a resort famous for it's sandy beaches, suitable for families and watersports enthousiasts. The abundance of watersports include snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, parachuting. waterskiiing and jet skiing. The most popular beaches are Palaces and Cape Greco.

The vibrant nightlife is a magnet for "party people" and the club scene rivals Ibiza, with many famous DJ's performing in the many clubs. High season sees an abundance of young revellers partying through the night.

Ayia Napa Monastery, as it is known today, was from the Venetian period of the 15th century, but no precise date for the construction of the Monastery is known. There was a Christian community earlier, and Ayia Napa was named in 1366.
