Moniatis Village is located in the Limassol District of Cyprus and lies close to Pano Platres, Kato Platres, Mandria, Kouka, Trimiklini and Pera Pedi Villages.

The village is built at an average height of 800 metres above sea level, which offers a cool refreshing climate during the long hot Cyprus summer months and a cold climate during the short winter months, when snowfall is a common feature.

Moniatis Village was a mixed village, with Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot residents, from the Ottoman rule until 1974, when the Turkish Cypriot population left the village.

The population of the village has shown large fluctuations over the years. The peak period was when the Amiantos Asbest Mines were in operation, which employed over 3,000 workers. Moniatis Village provided accommodation for many of the workers. The census of 2001 recorded 227 permanent residents, with the figure today showing a slight increase to a total of 280 recorded permanent residents.

The name of the village, according to legend, came from the many Mantres, sheep and goat pens, that formed a large part of the village when it was built.

The Archangel Michael Church is located on the outskirts of the village. The church is one of the oldest churches in the area, built over 300 years ago. The Panagia Church is located in the village centre and was built in 1929.
